Before the Exam

  • Do not stay up the entire night before the exam, attempting to study. Get at least EIGHT full hours of sleep before the test.
  • Remember to pack IDs, timetables and at least two reliable writing pens in a transparent bag.

  • Try to show up at least 30 minute before the exam.
  • Set your alarm and have a backup system (Parents or friends).
  • Go to the bathroom before walking into the examination room. You don't want to waste any time worrying about your bodily needs during the exam.

During the Exam

  • Budget your time. Make sure you have sufficient time for each question since every question on the paper is compulsory.
  • Remember, essays must be written in continuous prose.
  • A question that has not been attempted can gain you NO marks. Therefore, even if one essay was given the perfect score it cannot make up for one that was not attempted.
  • Always keep answer sheets clean and ensure that your handwriting is legible.
  • Eat before a test. Having food in your stomach will give you energy and help you focus, but avoid heavy foods which can make you groggy.

Note: Cell phones are NOT allowed in examination rooms. You stand the chance of being disqualified from an examination if your cell phone goes off in the room.

Remember: a clear head and a cool hand can achieve great things!

These are gentle reminders that will prevent anxiety and added stress as you approach your exams. Bear them in mind to prevent incidents. Good luck with your exams.
